Scotland Here we come Dec 2012 - Glasgow

On the 5th day we, Checked out from the lovely cottage and moved on to Glasgow. On the way went to Falkirk Wheel. What is Falkirk Wheel?

The Falkirk Wheel is a rotating boat lift in Scotland. It connects the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal. Named after the nearby town of Falkirk in central Scotland, the lift opened in 2002. The two canals it serves were previously connected by a series of 11 locks, but by the 1930s these had fallen into disuse. The locks were filled in and the land built upon.

For me and my hubby we are very happy to see such invention..A typical engineering student interest.

No fee for entry but to ride the boat that connects from a canal to another canal there are fees. Many narrowboats can be seen at the entrance and I think it would be lovely during summer to have picnic there.

Near the entrance

Nice playground for kids

Checked in Premier Inn (so called official sponsors) and as usual the men stayed in the room axcept my husband, we drove to explore the city although is rather late , the shops are all closed because it is new year's eve. Managed to capture pictures Glassgow town at night.

What an experience..alhamdulillah..Good bye Scotland!
